Enjoying, Achieving Together

Meet the Governors

We have a dedicated Governing Body who meet regularly to support the work of the schools.

School Governors are staff, parents, and members of the local community, Staffordshire County Council and the church community who wish to make a positive contribution to children's education  They have an important part to play in raising standards through their key roles of setting strategic direction, ensuring accountability and monitoring and evaluating the school's performance.

We currently have vacancies  for a Local Authority Governor, a co-opted Governor and a Foundation Governor.

Mrs Jennie Westley

Executive Headteacher

I was honoured to become the Executive Headteacher for the Chadsmoor Federation of the Community Infant and Nursery school and the C of E Junior School in April 2017.

Prior to this, I worked in Walsall. Following my training, I had the opportunity to work in a Junior school followed by a Primary School. I have taught in all year groups from Nursery – year 6 holding responsibilities for a number of areas in school including music and Special Educational Needs.

Having worked in some of the most deprived areas of Walsall, I am passionate that all children should be given an equal chance to follow their dreams. All children deserve good quality teaching by committed and hard working staff. I have high expectations of all stakeholders involved in school and I strive to ensure this happens.

My personal life involves spending time with my family. I have been married for 17 years and have a young daughter. We love going out visiting places of interest as well as staying in cuddled up in front of a good film or book. I absolutely love listening to music and I play the flute, piano, piccolo and Saxophone, although none of them as much as I used to.

Miss Julie Derry

Head of School (Junior School)

I am a local person who has grown up in Hednesford and Cannock attending St Josephs and Cardinal Griffin schools.

After qualifying from Chester College, I relocated back into the area and worked at Five Ways Primary before being employed at Chadsmoor Juniors. I have worked at the Junior School for 21 years, initially as a class teacher and for the last 7 years as the Deputy Headteacher and also a Governor.

As a long serving member of staff, I am passionate about the school community and want the children of Chadsmoor to aspire to be whatever they want to be, achieve their goals and be happy!

 Mrs Sue Johnson

Head of School (Infant School)

I am a local lady who has grown up in the area and actually attended both the Infant and Junior Schools as a pupil.

After qualifying, I worked in Walsall for 2 years before transferring into Staffordshire. Following working in another school in Staffordshire, I have worked at the Infant School for approximately 17 years, initially as a class teacher and for the last 4 years as the Deputy Headteacher and also a Governor.

I believe that everybody should live their dream. By working as part of a fantastic team, I want to provide the children of Chadsmoor with the best opportunity to do whatever they want to do in their future and to give them the best start possible.

Mrs Michelle Whiteman

Chair of Governors

I joined the governing body of Chadsmoor CE Junior School in 2017 after leaving teaching as I continue to have a strong interest in education and became link governor for SEN.

I have 18 years teaching experience beginning with teaching English before moving into a variety of Special Needs settings. I worked predominantly with children with autism in a variety of SLD and MLD settings.  I also have experience with other needs such as dyslexia and dyspraxia, and have worked with the different agencies that can be involved in a child’s journey through school.

I was made Chair in October 2018 and am looking forward to working with the governing body to ensure we place staff and pupils’ wellbeing at the heart of what we do.

The ethos at Chadsmoor Federation school is a nurturing and caring one and I am proud to be part of a school where staff, governors and pupils all share such a positive approach to education.

Mrs Muriel Davis

Vice Chair of Governor

I was born in Broomhill and after attending local school, trained at Derby Teacher Training College. My first post was at Chadsmoor Infants School and after 5 years I moved to John Wood Infants School, Cannock, as Deputy Headteacher.

I retired from there after 30 years and did part time work for the National Union of Teachers as well as becoming a Non Executive Director of Staffs Ambulance Service until it merged with West Midlands.

I have been one of the local District Councillors for Cannock East for nearly 20 years and am Portfolio Leader for Health and Wellbeing.

I was Chair of Governors at the Kingsway School for many years and since the Federation with the Junior School have continued in that role.

I have lived in the area for many years and am very keen that our children should have the very best chance to reach their aspirations and can assure you that my views are shared by all the staff and Governors.

I am married to our local County Councillor Derek Davis who has just retired from the Governors after many years of service and have two grandchildren, the eldest of whom has just move up from the Infants to the Junior School.

Miss Coleen Worrall

Associate Governor

I have worked in education now for over 13 years and I’m currently working full time for Cannock Chase High School as the Director of Student Services and Deputy Safeguarding person.

I have a passion for improving the outcomes and aspirations of all young people with the Cannock and surrounding area and dedicate my free time working as a Targeted Youth Support Worker and a Volunteer Community Panel Member for YOS. I have an in-depth understanding of the issues our young people face and specialise in working with young people who may have social, emotional or behavioural difficulties, finding a way to break down the barriers and enabling them to thrive.

I have lived in Cannock and the surrounding area all my life and attended Chadsmoor Junior School as a child. I feel that our school is a very important part of our community and I am dedicated in ensuring that our young people have the very best start in life.

Mrs Tina Heafield

Foundation

I have been a Foundation Governor for 8 years first at the Junior School and now at the Federation. Prior to this I served as a Governor for more than 20 years in a variety of schools; Special, Primary and Secondary.

I am privileged to be a Foundation Governor and have the opportunity to make the link between school and Church.

I am part of the Headteacher Performance Management group. I try to support the school in as many ways as possible and regularly attend functions and visit the school the when the opportunity arises.

I enjoy travelling and spending time on Cannock Chase to see the wildlife that we are fortunate enough to have on our doorstep.

I have been a Magistrate until retirement and have officiated in both adult and youth courts.

In my professional life I was a teacher at secondary level for 40 years and try to use the experience gained to enhance the role of Governor.

Mrs Helen Stead

Co-Opted

I have lived in this area for 29 years and have been involved with the Schools for most of that time, first as a member of staff then a parent (a parent helper and on PTA), a Governor since 1999 and I am now a grandparent of a nursery child.

I have worked in childcare/education all of my life and I am the Link Governor for the Foundation Stage (nursery and reception).

I belong to the local Church and also the local history group. I am keen to help provide the best educational experience for all our children by supporting the Head teacher and all of the staff in any way that I can.

     Mrs

    Katie Thompson

Co-opted Governor

I am local to the area having grown up in Hednesford and attending St Mary’s RC Primary and Cardinal Griffin schools. I have 2 children who attend Westhill Primary and Kingsmead.

I work as a commercial manager in the construction industry and have a passion for inspiring the next generation to take up subjects in STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics). In particular, I believe in encouraging girls to believe they can do anything they want to do if they put their mind to it no matter what their background or family circumstances and that should they want to take up roles traditionally considered jobs for the boys then there is no reason that they should not pursue that desire.

I believe a good education provides the best opportunity to break down stereo-types and barriers to provide every child the aspiration to strive to achieve the very best they can be and want to work with the school to provide that quality education.
